根据El Rey的介绍，Gecko兄弟在一次银行抢劫案中导致多名无辜者丧生，联邦调查局和德州骑警同时对他们发出通缉令，迫使他们向南逃往墨西哥。Gecko兄弟遇到以前的牧师Jacob Fuller和他的两个孩子Kate、Scott，于是将他们劫为人质。Gecko兄弟开着Fuller一家人的旅行车跨越边境来到一家脱衣舞夜总会，但是他们发现这里聚集着许多吸血鬼。要想活命，他们必须全力战斗——直至黎明到来。该剧增加了一些原片中没有的角色，深入探索了美洲当地的神秘传说。

如果第一季成功的话，今后每一季的故事都将发生在一个不同的地点，但故事结构相同：主人公必须在黎明到来之前逃生（意即整季讲述一天之内的故事）。
