　　观众和媒体对于本季的关注，几乎全都放在Morgan Jones（Lennie James）这个角色身上——毕竟这个角色起到桥接该剧和母剧《行尸走肉》（The Walking Dead）的重要作用，也是《行尸走肉》和《行尸危途》开播以来第一次出现情节交叉的情况。因为《行尸危途》的故事时间要比《行尸走肉》早很多，因此观众在《行尸危途》中看到的Morgan是「过去的Morgan」——《行尸走肉》首集中的Morgan，甚至更早。在遇到Rick等人之前，Morgan有过另外的朋友、另外的敌人和另外的威胁。

第四季的故事地点主要设定在德州，故事时间可能会发生一定幅度的时间跳跃。Alicia Clark、Victor Strand和Luciana Galvez都还活着。其中Luciana已经消失了很长一段时间（这是第三季Luciana中途离开后我们第一次见到这个角色），她如何回归、如何找到Alicia和Strand都耐人寻味。Madison Clarke和Nick也仍然是核心角色。除了这五位，其他回归角色的身份本季都可能发生变化（有些不再是常规角色，有些大幅减少了戏份，有些干脆不再出现）。
