　　纽约著名的戏界人士杰里，因该行业不景气，再加上资金周转不灵，剧院面临倒闭。可就在这时，怪事出现了，他碰到的亚瑟居然有一双闻歌起舞的毛毛虫，杰里觉得这简直是个神话，杰里灵感来了，他千方百计地拉拢亚瑟，骗取其信任，即而可将毛虫高价出售。由此可以挽救崩溃的剧院。于是，有了煤体大势炒作，一时间毛虫成了社会的焦点。毛虫的买卖眼看就要成了，就在这时，杰里的骗局被亚瑟识破，不想把自己心爱的宝贝卖掉，正当两人发生争执时，毛虫神奇地失踪了……
