　　在美国某个偏远的小村小镇，花季少女布鲁克（玛格丽特·桑德伯格 Marguerite Sundberg 饰）和青年警官麦克斯·布罗迪（麦克·弗洛尔斯 Michael Flores 饰）幽会，她拒绝了对方交往的请求，兀自返回家中。与此同时，军方不久前刚刚发射导弹试图摧毁一枚人造卫星，谁知导弹偏离方向，部分碎片坠落小镇南边山上。当地人并未将这起事故放在心上，照常吃喝玩乐，可是到了夜晚，有如行尸走肉一般的怪物开始逡巡小镇街头，残害无辜。麦克斯和他的同事在验尸发现种种异状，这一连串恐怖事件很可能和坠毁的卫星碎片及其所携带的神秘外星细菌有关。
