　　所有美国高校里都有一个美丽的啦啦队队长，当然也会有一个其貌不扬受人排挤的丑小鸭，玛妮（克里斯汀·贝尔饰）是丑小鸭故事里的励志小鸭，长大后除去眼镜摘掉牙箍终于成为了公关公司受人追捧的魅力主管。而噩梦是回老家参加哥哥威尔（詹姆斯·沃克饰）的婚礼，未来大嫂就是那位曾经带头欺负她的啦啦队队长头乔安娜（奥黛塔·雅丝曼饰）。回到家后，所有家人都围绕在美丽的乔安娜身边，玛妮不堪回首的回忆又涌上心头。故事总有不可思议的巧合，玛妮的妈妈盖尔（杰米·李·柯蒂斯饰）中学时期的死对头竟然是乔安娜的姑姑拉蒙纳（西格妮·韦弗饰）。
