◎简　　介

　　故事背景是发生在加州淘金潮时期，有一位住在波士顿的男孩Jack Flagg ，他跟姐姐Arabella 一同生活，但是财务上却发生了危机，为了想帮助家计，Jack 于是偷渡上船来到了加州，希望能因金矿致富而改善家中经济，然而他那尽责的管家 Eric Griffin 不放心他，也一路追来。然而在一次不经意的情况下，Griffin 管家使出漂亮的一拳，居然让他被旁人捧成一位有天份的拳击手，大家还帮他取了一个叫“Bullwhip Griffin”的绰号。之后少年 Jack 和妙管家 Griffin 在加州经历了一连串的冒险，最后终于美梦成真发财了，于是他们踏上归途返回老家，而从此管家也不再是管家了，他和 Jack 的姐姐Arabella 结了婚，成为真正的一家人。
