事情却超乎了她的想象，她不仅得到了电视台的录用，并得到资深记者沃伦（罗伯特·雷德福 Robert Redford 饰）的指导。第一次播报天气新闻的时候塔莉表现得不如人意，但她得到了沃伦的鼓励，而且非常用心得向沃伦学习。终于，两人在多时相处的时光中，爱上了彼此。塔莉对记者这份工作慢慢的上手了，她得到沃伦的帮助，事业发展得十分顺利。但世事难料，结婚后的沃伦到了巴拿马，却在采访中不幸中枪……
