◎简　　介

　　这个电影讲述了一个有抱负的青年作家，试图逃避家庭传统中的暴力和自我毁灭的黑色故事。距离E-F-布拉德沃斯（克里斯-克里斯托弗森 饰演）因为自我放逐而抛弃挚爱的妻儿，已经有四十年之久了。现在，已经成为蓝调音乐家的布拉德沃斯再次回到了家乡，被迫面对他离开后的巨大变化和陈年往事。因为他的出走导致其前妻朱莉娅（弗朗西斯-康罗伊 饰演）精神崩溃，他的三个儿子沃伦（瓦尔-基尔默 饰演）、博伊德（德怀特-约卡姆 饰演）和布雷迪（W-厄尔-布朗 饰演）对父亲的愤怒从未因为时间而消退。令布拉德沃斯唯一感到安慰的，是和十七岁的少年弗莱明（里斯-汤普森 饰演）逐步建立起来的友谊，但他并不知道弗莱明正是自己的孙子。当弗莱明遇到了年仅十六岁的的梦中情人蕾文-哈尔法克（希拉里-达芙 饰演），当年发生在这个家庭的伤心往事似乎又要再次上演……
